We believe that whānau is the constant in the lives of tamariki and that whānau want what's best for their tamariki. You will be supported to develop goals which work toward the hopes and aspirations of your tamaiti and whānau. To help your whānau, our services are delivered by a multidisciplined team.
- Children's community nurses — provide whānau with on-going care at home through comprehensive home-based specialist nursing support. Nurses are part of the Community child health team.
- Cultural case workers — support whānau to navigate the healthcare system.
- Dietitians — give advice on nutrition, food or supplements needed for healthy growth.
- Developmental coordinators — work closely with whānau, paediatricians and community agencies providing support with autism spectrum disorder.
- Occupational therapists — encourage the development of hand function and support the learning of specific skills your tamaiti needs for everyday living.
- Physiotherapists — focus on posture, movement and physical skills needed for activity.
- Social workers — support whānau to reduce stress and assist in managing whānau and community life.
- Speech-language therapists — support whānau where there are feeding difficulties and help with early communication through play.
- Visiting Neurodevelopmental therapists — assist pēpi and tamariki with all areas of their early development through positioning and play.
Where possible, your tamaiti will be seen at home, pre-school or in the community. If your tamaiti has a need for specialised equipment our team can help you apply for funding. We take a team approach — one or more team members may be involved with your family.
