In May 2022, the Chief Executive of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora asked for a Quality Improvement Review of BreastScreen Aotearoa (BSA), New Zealand’s national breast screening programme.
The review looked at whether the systems in place to keep the programme safe and high quality are working well. It made 26 recommendations for improvement.
Health New Zealand used those recommendations, along with advice from experts and partners, to create an Action Plan that sets out how to make the improvements. The plan will be overseen by Pae Whakatere, led by Dr Nina Scott.
