Commissioned by the Ministry of Health and produced by Allen + Clarke, this research draws on literature and focus groups to identify barriers to screening and ways Health New Zealand can improve communication and engagement.

Young women reported a lack of clear, relatable information, limited open discussion about cervical health, cost and transport barriers, and mixed experiences with health services. They emphasised the need for normalising cervical health conversations, representation in promotional material, simple and relatable messages, multi‑level communication approaches, and trusted options to get questions answered.
