This document outlines the Government’s response to a report from the New Zealand Parliament Petitions Committee about a petition from the Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand. The petition asked the Government to restore and extend the national breast screening programme by increasing participation targets, clearing the COVID-19 screening backlog, and extending free screening to women aged 70–74. The response explains the Government’s position on these requests and outlines actions already underway or being considered to improve participation in the BreastScreen Aotearoa programme and review the age range for screening.
