We provide 24-hour midwifery and nursing care during and after birth. A local team of general practitioners and nurses provide skill and expertise in obstetrics and paediatrics.

Kaikōura maternity unit is fully equipped for childbirth, and the staff are regularly trained to deal with emergencies.

We provide a relaxed home-like environment enabling uninterrupted birth and adjustment to parenthood. We offer breastfeeding support. This could include an extended stay to support you during breastfeeding if you live remotely.

If you give birth at Christchurch Women's Hospital, you can transfer to Kaikōura for your postnatal care.

We provide:
