Population Health
Focusing on communities
The Hawke's Bay DHB’s Population Health team focus is on the health of Hawke's Bay communities.
The team aim to keep people healthy and prevent illness through health promotion, prevention and health protection activities. These can include delivering health messages, providing immunisations, supporting screening for cancers and heart disease and testing water supply. This wide range of activities support healthy environments and healthy choices.
One of our key goals is to reduce inequities in health in Hawke’s Bay particularly for Māori, Pacific and people living in poorer areas, as these groups have the lowest life expectancy and live with the most health issues.
As a service we work with a wide range of partners and stakeholders to improve the health of Hawke’s Bay people. This is because we all have a role to play, in creating a healthy Hawke’s Bay.
